  The Thing looks like he's made of stone, but he's really made of stein. It's to fit in with the goyische superheroes.

  Nice! I knew of Kitty Pryde, but I didn't know the Thing was "in the tribe".

    Kitty Pryde wore a magen David pretty much from her first appearance. The Thing kept his Judaism hidden (as the story says, because he was concerned his monstrous appearance would inflame antisemitism) -- though in reality it was just that the writers decided to clearly identify him as Jewish in the 1990s as a tribute to Jack Kirby, as when the Thing was first introduced in 1961, it was taboo to identify a hero's religious beliefs.
