But wait! The USA needs to give military aid to Israel because the USA gives military aid to Saudi Arabia because the USA gives military aid to the provisional government of Iraq because the USA used to give military aid to the previous Iraqi regime because the USA gave military aid to Iran.
And if the USA didn't do this the arms industry would collapse, I tell you! -

Thu, August 30, 2007 - 11:37 PMI can only answer for myself. It would be a breath of fresh air to live in a country which has no military. It seems nobody hates Costa Ricans enough to invade and the country has nothing of sufficient value to make an opportunistic invasion worthwhile.
Now, am I missing something? Where are all these people with a fascination for Costa Rica? I thought I was the only one. -

Fri, August 31, 2007 - 5:50 AMMax, I used to talk to a client who went back and forth quite a bit, speaking of establishing, for lack of a better word, some type of sweet Jewish mini-colony there. The way he spoke about it, it was already happening. I never did look into it. Perhaps someone else will know more. -

Fri, August 31, 2007 - 6:52 AMKeep in mind, that even during the 1980s as Costa Rica was being tauted as a place of peace, it was used as a staging area for the Contras in the the civil war in Nicaraugua and was a major stopover point in arms trafficking and cocaine smuggling operations between the U.S. and Latin America.
